There is a great spirit of love and mutual charity in our community. An important part of our charism is: living in the same monastery, with the same community, all through our carmelite life. Most of us actually came to Dysart Carmel because other carmels had had to close, but once here, like all carmelites, we live permanently in the same community. This commitment is lived out in a very literal way, because usually we remain within the bounds of the monastery, only leaving it for practical necessities.
Mindful of our weaknesses and limitations, we strive, with God’s help, to live our vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, in mutual love.
