And now it is time for us to say thank you to Father Philip! After fifteen years of faithful sevice as our chaplain, he left yesterday for a well-earned retirement in the house of his Redemptorist Order in Liverpool. During all his time with us, he never failed to celebrate Mass for us, and never went on holiday unless he was sure he had found us a replacement chaplain.
Father Philip is a man of great learning. He taught in Maryvale for many years, and is an authority on Phenomenology. But he was just as interested in developing new strains of irises, and spent a lot of time working in our garden. Here, in no particular order, are photos of Father Philip’s last Sunday Mass with us, the party afterwards, us sisters saying goodbye yesterday, and some of Father’s own irises. Our grateful prayers go with him to Liverpool. Thank you Father Philip!
